This past weekend, participants at First Tee – Greater San Antonio heard from a leader whose impact reaches far beyond the golf course.
Kaleth O. Wright spoke to our First Tee participants as part of the FORE Your Future Leadership Series presented by Frost Bank, sharing his journey and lessons on collaboration, leadership, and service.
Kaleth O. Wright is a retired senior noncommissioned officer in the United States Air Force who served as the 18th Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force from 2017 to 2020. In that role, he acted as a key advisor to Air Force leadership on the welfare, readiness, and development of the enlisted force, becoming just the second African American to hold the position.
While his military career is defined by leadership at the highest level, Wright’s work today continues to center around service, this time through the game of golf.
In 2020, he founded Gang Green Golf Club (G3C), a nonprofit social club built on community, fellowship, and giving back. What started as a group of veterans connecting through golf has grown into an organization dedicated to supporting junior and underserved players. Through donations, volunteer work, and mentorship, G3C helps create access and opportunity for young athletes to grow both on and off the course.
A major part of that mission includes supporting First Tee – Greater San Antonio. G3C contributes through funding, equipment, and hands-on involvement, while also supporting scholarships for minority and underprivileged golfers and initiatives like the Charles Schwab Challenge Grant.
Their impact continues with events like the G3C Charity Golf Classic, set for September 7, 2026, at The Quarry Golf Course. The event brings together golfers and supporters for a day of competition and community, all aimed at raising funds for youth development and scholarship opportunities.

Whether speaking to young athletes or building programs that open doors, Wright’s message stays consistent: success is built through collaboration, service, and investing in others.
