First Tee – Greater San Antonio participants recently represented their chapter at the 2026 Texas Cup, held at Rockwood Park Golf Course in Fort Worth. The annual event brings together top First Tee participants from chapters across Texas for a two-day team and individual competition.
Competing against some of the state’s best junior golfers, the Greater San Antonio team demonstrated perseverance, confidence, and sportsmanship while representing their chapter on one of Texas’ premier First Tee stages.
Tim Petter recorded his best Texas Cup finish in his third appearance at the event, tying for ninth place overall and finishing fifth in the boys division. Petter posted rounds of 79 and 80 for a two-day total of 159.
Railynn Gonzales and Michael Petter tied for 29th overall, with Gonzales finishing ninth in the girls division. Leo Uresti tied for 31st overall and showed remarkable improvement throughout the competition, lowering his score by 10 strokes from the first round to the second. Sophia Gonzales finished 38th overall in her second Texas Cup appearance.
The event also marked the Texas Cup debut for both Leo Uresti and Michael Petter, while Sophia Gonzales and Railynn Gonzales competed in the tournament for the second time.
As a team, First Tee – Greater San Antonio finished seventh among nine participating chapters. First Tee – Greater Houston captured the team championship, edging First Tee – Greater Austin by one stroke.
The Texas Cup provides participants with the opportunity to compete at a high level while continuing to develop the life skills, confidence, and resilience emphasized through the First Tee program. For the Greater San Antonio participants, the experience served as another opportunity to represent their chapter and community with pride both on and off the golf course.
