Age 10-11

What your child will learn...

The Ages 10–11 program builds on the foundation your child developed in earlier levels. At this stage, kids are ready to go deeper — both in their golf skills and in their understanding of who they are and how they show up in the world. The program challenges them to discover what they’re truly capable of, set meaningful goals, and become the best version of themselves on and off the course.

What a Typical Session Looks Like

Sessions at this level run 60 minutes and follow the same proven three-part structure your child is already familiar with.

Golf Fitness Warm-Up (first ~10 minutes) Kids get moving with activities that continue to build fundamental movement skills — strength, balance, flexibility, coordination, and object control — at a level appropriate for their age and development.

Games & Activities (bulk of class) The heart of the session. Kids sharpen their golf skills through engaging games and challenges while exploring more advanced life skill concepts like grit, resilience, goal setting, and appreciating diversity. Everything is connected — what they learn on the course applies directly to life off it.

Wrap-Up (last 5–10 minutes) Coaches bring the group together with open-ended questions that help kids reflect on what they experienced and connect it to real situations at home, at school, and in their relationships with others.

Golf Skills Your Child Will Build

At this level, kids move beyond just exploring the basics. They begin developing more consistency and intention in their game. All four golf skills are practiced:

  • Putting
  • Chipping
  • Pitching
  • Full Swing

Coaches continue to reinforce the core fundamentals from the previous level while introducing more advanced concepts:

  • Get Ready to Swing — reinforcing proper grip, stance, aim, and alignment
  • Clubface Awareness — understanding how the direction of the clubface at contact affects where the ball goes
  • Distance Response — continuing to develop feel and control for different shot distances
  • Target Awareness — learning to match club selection to specific yardages and targets

Kids also go deeper into the Rules of Golf at this level, learning how to handle real on-course situations like out-of-bounds, lost balls, penalty areas, movable obstructions, and abnormal course conditions.

Life Skills & Character Development

The Ages 10–11 program continues to build on the five Key Commitments while introducing more nuanced life skill concepts that challenge kids to think bigger and reflect more deeply.

  • Discovering What You’re Capable Of — Kids explore the concept of “personal par” — the idea that success looks different for everyone and that measuring yourself against your own growth is more meaningful than comparing yourself to others. This becomes a powerful tool for building self-confidence both on and off the course.
  • Setting Goals & Chasing Dreams — Participants learn the difference between a dream and a goal, and how to turn one into the other. They explore short-term and long-term goals, practice setting realistic expectations for themselves, and learn that what happens along the way — the effort, the growth, the setbacks — matters just as much as the outcome.
  • Developing Grit Kids are introduced to concrete strategies for pushing through challenges and staying committed when things get hard. Coaches work with participants to recognize their own inner strength and develop resilience they can draw on in any area of life.
  • Managing Emotions & Staying Cool — Participants learn practical tools for staying calm under pressure — including how to relax and reset when frustration sets in. These skills help kids handle tough moments on the course and in everyday life with more confidence and control.
  • Appreciating Diversity — Kids explore what it means to truly value and appreciate differences in others — different backgrounds, strengths, weaknesses, perspectives, and personalities. Through activities and conversations, they discover that diverse teams are stronger teams, and that showing kindness and consideration for those who are different from them is one of the most powerful things they can do as a Game Changer.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration — Kids continue to build on their understanding of what it means to be a great teammate and playing partner. They practice connecting with others through genuine conversation, learning to ask good questions and really listen — skills that matter in every area of life.
  • Confidence & Self-Discovery — A major focus at this level is helping kids discover what they’re capable of. Through both golf challenges and guided reflection, participants begin to see themselves more clearly — their strengths, their areas for growth, and the unique qualities they bring to the world.
  • Resilience & Perseverance — Kids learn that grit isn’t something you either have or you don’t — it’s something you practice. Coaches provide tools and strategies that help participants push through difficult moments and keep going even when progress feels slow.
  • Honesty & Good Judgment — Building on earlier lessons, kids continue to apply honest decision-making to increasingly complex situations — both in the rules of the game and in the choices they face every day.
  • Goal Setting in Action — Participants don’t just learn about goals — they practice setting them, working toward them, and reflecting on what they’re learning along the way. Coaches help kids connect their goals on the course to their bigger dreams in life.

Safety First, Always

Every session is structured with clear safety expectations so kids can focus on learning and having fun in a secure environment:

  • Coaches use consistent signals so kids always know when to stop, look, and listen
  • Designated safety zones keep kids completely separate from hitting areas at all times
  • A minimum of 10–12 feet is maintained between each hitting station
  • A maximum of 2–3 players per station ensures individual attention
  • A clear behavior policy is in place with consistent expectations and fair consequences
  • All coaches are trained in Safe Sport policies and chapter incident reporting procedures
