Our Philosophy

First Tee – Greater San Antonio is about so much more than golf – it is about strengthening our community. Without caring mentors, positive youth development just does not happen. We believe that a meaningful, quality relationship between mentors and participants is vital to our program.

Become A Coach Today!

Developed with input from leading experts in the field of positive youth development, our certified coaches program focuses on empowering participants through decision-making and exploring options. This helps foster positive relationships between coaches and young people, inspiring the golfers of tomorrow to look to the future, set goals, and unlock their potential.

All training is covered by First Tee – Greater San Antonio and certified coaches qualify for compensation.

Coach Role:

  • Deliver First Tee Program to kids & teens
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Assist with setup/breakdown of activities
  • Mentoring next generation of game changers

Coach Benefits:

  • First Tee uniform (polo & cap)
  • Free range balls at First Tee Learning Center

  • Round of golf at Alamo City Golf Trail for volunteering at 6 of 7 programming classes
  • First Tee National Coach Training provided
  • Stipends begin at $350 per 7-week session

Requirements:

  • Complete a background check
  • Complete SafeSport training
  • Volunteer for one 7-week programming session
  • Complete a 4-hour, in-person First Tee coach certification
