1. Who is eligible to participate?
First Tee – Greater San Antonio is open to any child 5 – 18 years of age.
2. Do participants need their own golf clubs?
No. We provide clubs, balls, tees and any other equipment they might need. However, participants may bring their own golf clubs if they prefer.
3. What to wear/bring?
Please wear pants, shorts or skirts with pockets, athletic shoes and hat, cap or visor. Please bring sunscreen and parents can bring a chair to sit on if they want.
4. How much does it cost?
Participants pay $105 (per participant) during regular registration for a season for First Tee Life Skills. Financial Aid is available for those who qualify. In addition, attendance requirements MUST be met and participants must adhere to the First Tee Code of Conduct in order to receive credit for completing a class.
5. What are the attendance requirements? What if we miss a class? Are there makeups?
If lessons are missed during the 7-week season, please notify your coach so he/she can work with you to catch up. Unfortunately, we do not offer makeup classes. A participant is allowed to miss two classes and still be eligible for the next level. If a participant misses more than two classes, he or she can still attend the season, but will not be eligible to move up.
6. How do you register for classes?
Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis, please click here. The price per 7-week season is $105 (per participant) during regular registration and $135 (per participants) during late registration. All new students begin at the PLAYer level.
7. How long does it take to go through the program?
Members advance to different levels of First Tee Life Skills Experience (Player, Par, Birdie, Eagle and Ace Levels) at their own pace. This advancement depends on factors such as age, attendance as well as a member’s understanding and application of the required golf and life skills at each level.
8. Can anyone use the First Tee – Greater San Antonio practice facilities?
Yes. The range at First Tee Learning Center is open to the public. First Tee members receive a price of $1 on range balls by showing the bag tag or book for their level. These $1 buckets are for the kids not the parents.
9. How do you become a First Tee – Greater San Antonio member?
Create a parent account by going here, then add your participant, pay the Season Fee to be registered for a class. Scholarships are available and may be requested during registration.
