Our Philosophy
First Tee – Greater San Antonio is about so much more than golf – it is about strengthening our community. Without caring mentors, positive youth development just does not happen. We believe that a meaningful, quality relationship between mentors and participants is vital to our program.
As you consider volunteering for our chapter, know that the safety of our kids is our priority. Please read our Prevention Policies to see how we conduct programs and activities at our chapter.

Volunteers at First Tee – Greater San Antonio are part of an outstanding team. As a volunteer, you’ll get a first-hand look at a leading-edge junior development program that uses golf as a tool to teach life skills, and a sense of satisfaction and pride knowing you are positively impacting the lives of the youth you are serving.
How to be a volunteer…It’s Simple!!!
You must complete a volunteer application and screening process, which will include an interview about your skills and interests, a background check, and character references. You will also receive training about your volunteer roles and responsibilities and review of our safety policies and procedures.
Become A Coach Today!
Developed with input from leading experts in the field of positive youth development, our certified coaches program focuses on empowering participants through decision-making and exploring options. This helps foster positive relationships between coaches and young people, inspiring the golfers of tomorrow to look to the future, set goals, and unlock their potential.
All training is covered by First Tee – Greater San Antonio and certified coaches qualify for compensation.
Make An Impact Off The Course
Our chapters rely on volunteers —year-round — to accomplish our mission, and not all those goals involve golf. First Tee – Greater San Antonio needs support off the course as well. These opportunities include:
- Fundraising/Events
- Operations/Administration
- Mentoring/Tutoring
- In-school program support
By contributing your time and talent, you can directly make an impact in a young person’s life.
Safety Is Our #1 Priority
Golf is inherently a social distancing sport and deemed relatively low risk. In addition, we have implemented additional measures to not only ensure our participants safety but your safety as well.
