Participant Opportunities

Through a child’s involvement in First Tee, participants may become eligible for a wide range of scholarship and grant opportunities. These programs can help offset the costs of college, vocational or trade school, as well as tournament expenses, participation fees, and other development opportunities.

We are committed to supporting students every step of the way — from the First Tee to the boardroom — by removing barriers and opening doors to lifelong success through golf.

First Tee – Greater San Antonio Y.E.S. Scholarship

We are excited to announce the Youth Education Support (Y.E.S.) Scholarship—an incredible opportunity exclusively for our First Tee – Greater San Antonio participants! This scholarship is designed to recognize and support high school seniors who have demonstrated dedication, leadership, and commitment both on and off the golf course.

PGA REACH Southern Texas College Scholarship Program

The PGA REACH Southern Texas College Scholarship Program provides financial support to graduating high school seniors and current college students who are pursuing higher education. With 20 different scholarships available in 2026, applicants are automatically considered for all scholarships they qualify for.

San Antonio Area Foundation Legacy Scholarship

The San Antonio Area Foundation’s Legacy Scholarship program has rapidly expanded, making dreams of higher education a reality for many Bexar and Webb County high school juniors. Founded by an anonymous donor, this program has become one of the largest college scholarship initiatives in the nation.

Jess Claiborne Junior Golf Foundation Scholarship

Jess Claiborne Junior Golf Foundation Scholarship awards one male and one female golfer a one-time 3,000.00 each towards their education at an accredited college or university. Scholarship funds will only be disbursed to a college or university or previously approved third party and will not be paid directly to the scholarship recipient.

Harvey E. Najim Charitable Foundation Scholarship Program

The Harvey E. Najim Charitable Foundation Scholarship was established in 2017 honoring Mr. Najim’s commitment to making a difference in the lives of children and those in need in San Antonio. The Fund has awarded more than $2.8 million to over 250 students since its inception.

The AJGI College Scholarship is awarded every spring to a select group of high school seniors to aid in financial costs associated with a college education. The AJGI College Scholarship is geared toward graduating seniors who demonstrate success, leadership, honesty and integrity throughout the high school careers.

PGA REACH Gateway grants a limited number of college scholarships to high school graduates each year through the Clarence Voigt Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Clarence Voigt Memorial Scholarship places a collective emphasis on a commitment to golf, academics, community involvement and character.

Bob Romero Scholarship

The Bob Romero Scholarship connects emerging junior golfers with life-changing competitive opportunities through events conducted by the Texas Golf Association (TGA) and the Texas Junior Golf Alliance, a statewide partnership between the TGA and the Northern and Southern Texas PGA Sections (NTPGA, STPGA), when limited financial resources would otherwise prevent it.

The Evans Scholarship

The Evans Scholarship is a full tuition and housing college scholarship for high-achieving caddies with limited financial means. To qualify, caddies must meet the requirements of having a strong caddie record, excellent academics, demonstrated financial need and outstanding character.

The Walter J. Travis Memorial Scholarships

The Travis Society’s Scholarships give serious consideration to outstanding amateur high school, college, or university golfers for our scholarship awards, based on their competitive record as an amateur golfer and the criteria listed below (with the exception of career goals). Amateur golfer applicants do not need to be pursuing a career in a golf-related industry.

The Sara Scholarship is granted annually to female high school seniors who plan to pursue a college degree and who demonstrate academic achievement, excellence of character, financial need and active engagement with the sport of golf. Skill in playing golf is not a criterion.

The Chevron Dinah Shore Scholarship

The Chevron Dinah Shore Scholarship is granted annually to female high school seniors who are pursuing a college education, but will not be playing collegiate golf. In an effort to preserve the legacy of Dinah Shore and her contributions to women’s golf, Chevron is offering two (2) $2,500 scholarships will be awarded per year renewable over 4 years ($10,000 total for each recipient).

Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship

The Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship is granted annually through The LPGA Foundation and the Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship Fund. Established in 2006, the objective of the Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship is to provide a need-based scholarship to a female high school senior from a recognized minority background who will be pursuing a full-time course of study and playing collegiate golf at an accredited college or university in the United States.

The LPGA Foundation Scholarship, Presented by Acumatica will be awarded through the LPGA Foundation as part of Acumatica’s commitment to Changing the Face of Golf. Established in 2024, Acumatica’s scholarship opportunity is for female high school seniors pursuing a full-time, STEM-focused course of study at an accredited college or university in the United States.

The Women on Par Scholarship

The “Women on Par” Scholarship Program, provided by the LPGA Foundation, was established in 2007 by the EWGA Foundation (now the LPGA Amateur Golf Association™) to provide financial assistance to “non-traditional” female students. These scholarships are intended for women, aged 30 and older, who are attending a college or university for the first time or returning to school after an absence to complete their technical/vocational, Associate, or Bachelor’s degree.

Doris Kallina/’Nez Muhleman Scholarship

The TGA Foundation awards a $25,000 scholarship to a deserving female every four years. The next Doris Kallina / ‘Nez Muhleman Scholarship to be awarded will be in 2027. This will be awarded to a high school senior or a freshman in college. Applications will be accepted January 23, 2027 – March 5, 2027.

The Marilynn Smith Scholarship is granted annually through The LPGA Foundation and the Golf it Forward Foundation. The Scholarship is to provide a scholarship to a female high school senior, who is a legal resident or citizen of the United States or Canada, has played golf in high school or in her community and intends to play golf at an accredited college or university in the United States.

The Renee Powell Scholarship will be awarded through The LPGA Foundation and the LPGA Renee Powell Fund. The PGA of America REACH Foundation the 501(c)3 of PGA of America, has established a scholarship program to assist students intent on pursuing PGA of America Membership. These $8,000 scholarships are designed to improve the recruitment and retention of talented and motivated students from diverse and historically underrepresented backgrounds, who are pursuing PGA Membership through PGA Golf Management University Programs nationwide.

AJGA ACE Grant

The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) has a program in place, the Achievement Competitive Excellence ACE grant that helps juniors and their families afford to compete in their tournaments. The grant provides financial assistance to young men and women who aspire to earn a college golf scholarship through competitive junior golf.

The goal of the Southern Texas PGA and PGA REACH Southern Texas is to introduce our area’s youngsters to the challenges and rewards of golf. Started by the Harmon Family in honor of Dick Harmon, PGA REACH Southern Texas has created the Dick Harmon Participation Grant program to help provide top-flight golf opportunities to young men and women regardless of financial resources.

Jacob Bradley Memorial Scholarship

The Jacob Bradley Memorial Scholarship is awarded to selected applicants to be used for tournament entry fees and/or memberships on the Texas Junior Golf Tour. Funds are awarded at 3 points during the year (early January, April, mid-August), and applicants are eligible to re-apply each cycle in a given year.

The U.S. National Development Program (USNDP) Grant

The U.S. National Development Program (USNDP) Grant is an annual reimbursement-based program for families with competitive junior golfers who demonstrate financial need and exceptional potential to progress through the USNDP pathway. Grants of up to $15,000 are awarded to selected families.

The PGA REACH Gateway Foundation provides opportunities for financial assistance to area junior golfers based on demonstrated need. Assistance may be applied to aid in costs associated with Gateway PGA Junior Tour or Junior Development Tour events based on need and available funds.

All Kids Play Grant

All Kids Play provides funding to families and communities who lack the resources to pay for youth sports. Grants are available to qualifying families with kids in grade K-12 and not-for-profit community-based recreational sports organizations in low income areas on a need and first-come, first served basis as funds are available.

Jess Claiborne Junior Golf Foundation Tournament Stipend

The Jess Claiborne Junior Golf Foundation Tournament Stipend assists players with expenses associated with a competition including transportation, lodging, meals, entry fees and caddie/cart and practice fees.
