Become a Volunteer – First Tee – Greater San Antonio

A First Tee volunteer helps create a safe, fun, and supportive environment where youth can learn golf while developing important life skills. Volunteers are mentors as much as they are golf helpers, they encourage participants, reinforce lessons, and build positive relationships.

Some of the primary responsibilities include:

Creates a welcoming, inclusive environment where every participant feels valued, regardless of skill level.
Help provides hands-on, individualized coaching and feedback throughout class time.
Builds positive relationships with participants using encouraging language.
Ensures participant safety by actively monitoring the group and maintaining awareness throughout the class.
Reinforces the day’s golf and life skill lessons through conversations, encouragement, and positive role modeling.
Celebrates participants’ effort, progress, and improvement to build confidence and motivation.
Models First Tee’s core values and key commitments.
Supports positive behavior by reinforcing expectations established by the lead coach.
Assists the lead coach by helping with equipment, cleanup, and stepping in wherever needed to keep the class running smoothly.

How to Become a First Tee Volunteer:

Complete the interest form below.
A First Tee staff member will contact you by phone or email to discuss your interest in volunteering.
Complete the required SafeSport training and background check.
Instructions will be provided after your initial conversation with our staff.
Attend a volunteer orientation to learn about First Tee, our coaching philosophy, and how our program operates.
Once these steps are complete, you’ll be ready to sign up and volunteer for a First Tee session!

Round of golf at Alamo City Golf Trail for volunteering at 5 of 6 programming classes (this is only valid for winter, spring, and fall sessions)
